1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing or using Deka German (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the App. Section 12 covers the website dekagerman.com.

2. The Service

Deka German helps you learn German vocabulary with spaced repetition (SRS). It provides:

The App is free to download and its core study features are free. It works local-first: your data stays on your device unless you use features that need our server.

3. Deka Premium Subscription

3.1 Free and paid

Creating and reviewing cards, spaced repetition, decks, tags and backup are free. Without a subscription, AI-assisted card generation and the number of open Library decks are limited; your current allowance is shown in the App. Deka Premium removes these limits.

3.2 Plans and price

Deka Premium is an auto-renewable subscription: Annual (one year) or Monthly (one month). The price for your region is shown on the subscription screen before you confirm and on the store product page. Prices differ between countries.

3.3 Free trial

Where a free trial is offered, it is shown before you confirm. A trial is available once per store account. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription and your store account is charged.

3.4 Billing and renewal

Payment is charged to your Apple Account (iOS) or Google Play account (Android) when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.

3.5 Cancellation

Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the paid period. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.

3.6 Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, who are the merchants. We cannot issue or process refunds. Request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com or from Google under the Google Play refund policies. Mandatory consumer law in your country applies where it grants more.

3.7 Price changes

If a subscription price increases, Apple or Google will notify you and, where their rules require it, ask for your consent before charging the new price.

3.8 How your subscription is recognised

The App has no user accounts. Your subscription belongs to the store account that bought it and is recognised on your device through an installation identifier (see the Privacy Policy). After reinstalling or on a new device, use Restore Purchases with the same store account.

3.9 Availability of paid features

Some Premium features depend on third-party AI services (section 9). A temporary interruption of such a service is not a failure to provide the subscription; prolonged interruptions are handled under section 9 and applicable consumer law.

4. Your Responsibilities

You agree to use the App for personal language learning and not to:

AI-generated definitions, examples, translations and feedback may contain errors. Review them before you rely on them. Your use of AI features is also subject to OpenAI’s Terms of Use.

5. Intellectual Property

The App, its design, code and built-in content are owned by the developer. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal study, including for work or exams. You keep full ownership of the cards and decks you create.

6. Your Data

Your cards, decks and study progress are stored on your device (see the Privacy Policy).

7. Disclaimers

The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of uninterrupted or error-free operation or of the accuracy of AI-generated content. The App is a study tool; we do not guarantee specific learning outcomes or test results.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, loss of data, or interruption of AI features.

9. Service Availability

Core study features work offline. AI features and audio for new cards require an internet connection and depend on our server and on third-party providers. We may modify, suspend or discontinue server features, and will make reasonable efforts to give advance notice of significant changes.

10. Termination

You can stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may restrict server access for users who violate these Terms.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date shows the current version. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the App.

12. The Website (dekagerman.com)

The Website is free to use and provided “as is”. Word lists and lessons are made for learning and may contain errors; you can report them on the Corrections page. Parts of the content are based on Wiktionary and are available under the licence stated on each page (CC BY-SA 4.0). You may not scrape or copy the Website at scale in a way that overloads it or bypasses these licence terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Armenia. Nothing here deprives consumers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or other jurisdictions of the mandatory protections of the law of their country of residence.

14. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and the developer about the App.
