German Prepositions of Place
Describe where people and things are, choose between in, an and auf, and use bei and zu Hause correctly.
To say where something is, German uses a preposition plus the dative. Auf dem Tisch, unter dem Bett, neben der Tür: the question is always Wo?
The tricky part is choosing between in, an and auf, which don't match English 'in, at, on' one to one.

For position, ask Wo? and use the dative. an dem and in dem shorten to am and im.
